Abby Hugill

As a high school senior in Tallahassee, Abby needed to choose a project for her Girl Scout Gold Star Award. She wanted to help children learn about bats and bees and their importance in our lives. She decided to build a pollinator garden and a bat house at her school and to write and publish a children's book. With advice from her Girl Scout mentor, Midtown Reader Bookstore owner Sally Bradshaw, and illustrations by her friend Cody Paddack, Abby set about producing her book. Sally asked M.R. to assist, and the result is Betsy and Bernie: Eco-Guardians.
